US climate change reaction won't change the world

We need to put the world on a carbon diet
. That's a light way of saying we're on a crash-course to destruction. What's the best way to tackle this when you're the american Secretary of Energy?
They could do a lot of things, pushing clean energy into mainstream usage, acting in favor of green solutions and helping fund associations that already do something.
But being sensible is harder than I think it is: Secretary Chu announced $151 million in funding for 37 breakthrough energy projects in technologies [...].
Yes, instead of acting, they've decided to support high-risk, high-reward research into innovative energy technologies
.
I believe this translates to: We'll spend millions on futile projects, instead of funding an actual climate change.
Sickening.
